VINOBLE WILL OPEN ITS DOORS TOMORROW WITH THE OPENING OF THE GRAN SEÑOR OF URIUM, ONE OF THE RAREST AND MOST EXPENSIVE NOBLE WINES IN THE WORLD, VALUED AT €20.000
The Commissioner of this edition Pancho Campo MW will be in charge of tasting this wine during the opening of the Exhibition tomorrow, Sunday 30th May at 12.pm inside the Alcázar de Jerez

At 11am the Fair will be opened officially by the Mayoress of Jerez, Pilar Sánchez



Jerez de la Frontera, 29th May 2010 – The International Exhibition of Noble Wines Vinoble will begin its seventh edition with an unprecented event in teh Exhibition. The Commissioner of Vinboble Pancho Campo MW will uncork and taste one of the most prescious noble wines in the world valued at €20,000, the Palo Cortado Gran Señor de Urium, together with the owner of the winery, Alonso Ruiz. The event will take place on Sunday at 12pm in the San Fernando Patio, inside the the Alcázar of Jerez, the historic 12th Century venue for Vinoble 2010.



Before this, at 11am will be the Opening Ceremony, conducted by the Mayoress of the city, Pilar Sánchez, which will open the exhibitipon areas, which are both inside and outside of the walled building.



The Gran Señor de Urium, coming from Bodega Urium, is over 100 years old and comes from one exclusive barrell of 500litres. The bottle is valued at over €20,000, and is only produced as 15 bottles per year. This precious Palo Cortado is bottled in a glass coming form the Czech Republic, and the stopper is laminated in 24 carat gold.



Thus, Vinoble will start to show off to the city of Jerez de la Frontera, which will, in these four days between the 30th May and 2nd June, become the global capital for fortified, sweet and dessert wines.



Public tastings in the Plaza del Arenal

Vinoble 2010 will also include separate activities for members of the public, with four open tastings which will take place in the Plaza del Arenal starting from 8pm on Sunday. In each of these, 100 people will be able to take part on a strict first come, first serve basis.



These iniciative, supported by the Consejo Regulador Jerez-Xeres-Sherry and The Wine Academy of Spain, which has technical direction of Vinoble 2010, has the tasting techniques and making people aware of the noble wines which are being exhibited inside the Alcázar as its main objective.



The Consejo Regulador de las DD.O. Jerez-Xeres-Sherry, will be in charge of the corresponding tastings on Sunday 30th May and Wednesday 2nd June. Fino, Oloroso, Cream and Pedro Ximénez wines will be tasted.



The Wine Academy of Spain will direct the tastings on Monday 31st May and Tuesday 1st June. On these occasions, the selected wines will be Cava Juve Camps, Viñaverde, Fino Tío Pepe, Manzanilla Solear, Oloroso Ochavico and Pedro Ximénez Cosecha de Pérez Barquero.



The public tastings in the Plaza del Arenal within the programme of Vinovle 2010, come as a response to the organiser’s intentions to bring further participation and understanding to the city hosting the event. In this sense, these tastings will open up visitors and inhabitants of the City of Jerez to the great festival of wine that is The Exhibition of Noble Wines.



Vinoble 2010

The International Exhibition of Noble Wines, better known as Vinoble, is a space dedicated exclusively to wines classified as fortified, sweet or dessert, and whose next edition will take place from the 30th May until the 2nd June of this year. This event, which takes place biennially since 1998 and is organised by the Town Hall of Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz) with coordination from The Wine Academy of Spain.





The Wine Academy of Spain

The Wine Academy of Spain is a private organisation founded in 2003 by Pancho Campo MW, the only Spaniard to possess the title of Master of Wine. Its activities are focused on the education of wine professionals and aficionados alike; the promotion of Spanish wines overseas, through the Spanish Wine Education Programme; the promotion of Spain as a destination for Wine Tourism; the analysis of the impact of climate change on the industry; and study trips to wine regions, in collaboration with the University of California Davis, organising trips and lectures about viticultural advances, oenology and wine marketing.
