GASTRONOMY FROM CANTABRIA WILL BE PRESENT FOR THE FIRST TIME AT VINOBLE 2010
Jerez de la Frontera, 26th May 2010 – The Seventh edition of the Exhibition of Noble Wines Vinoble, which will take place from the 30th May until the 2nd June will now include a special section of the food from Cantabria in its programme.

The collaboration between Vinoble and the Government of Cantabira through the Ministry of Rural Affairs, Livestock, Fisheries, Biodiversity and the Office of Food Quality. will have it’s products shown in two parts of this edition of The Exhibition of Noble Wines, which is organised by the Town Hall of Jerez and coordinated by The Wine Academy of Spain.

The first of these stems from the sponsorship of a Welcome Cocktail, which the organisers will offer to to exhibitors and VIP’s of the Exhibition, and in which they will be able to taste the produce of Cantabria: Cheeses from three controlled appellations (Queso Nata de Cantabria, Picón Bejes – Tresviso and Quesucos de Liébana), Meat from the delimited of Cantabria, as well as other high quality products from the region, tomatoes, Isla peppers, sheep’s cheese etc. and ecological products like marmalade, fruit, vegetables, not to mention other traditional products such as anchovies, and the orujos and liqueurs of Liébana. All of these tastings of food from Cantabria will be accompanied by the wines of the four Jerez wineries: Aecovi, González Byass, Barbadillo and Garvey. This will also be repeated for the typical desserts of the region: sobao pasiego with Protected Geographical Indication and quesada pasiega

The second part of the collaboration will take place on the third day of the Exhibition in the Torre de Homenaje under the programme information of Food and Wine Pairing.

This pairing, which will take place under the title ‘Cheeses of Cantabria’ will have a special connotation by the matching of Cantabrian cheeses with noble wines for the first time in the Exhibition; and under the control of the prestigious North American Sommelier David Denton.

In this way, the Government of Cantabria is actively placing itself in an established event such as Vinoble, actively participating in the most important event in Spain focusing of noble wines, under the coordination of the Commissioner of Vinoble and the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, also present for the first time in Vinoble
